Does anyone else get really hungry when their blood sugar is high?
Of course. High blood sugar means it isn’t going into your cells. So yeah sometimes really hungry.
I can still remember sixty years ago, before I was diagnosed eating non stop and loosing weight.
Yes! All the time! I don’t know why it’s not listed as a symptom!
Polyphagia, or extreme hunger, is one of the major indicators/warning signs of diabetes, so it would make sense that you feel this way when high. Your body needs fuel, so you are hungry, but you can’t process it, so it’s an endless cycle. Just be careful of the ketoacidosis side effect, That can/will kill your kidneys!
Yes, I have often enough. I don’t like “eating high,” but this has happened to me. Not only do I release insulin for the high bG, but also pump in for the food I intend to eat. Drinking at least 10 ounces of water helps. Once I get 200bG or less, I exercise: stationery bike for 10 minutes, walk for 40, or something. Then drink more water. Good luck!
When your sugar is high your body burns through nutrients so it constantly wants more. It’s normal I get the same thing and that’s what my endo told me
