An article written by a Type 1 diabetic who is also a medical journalist. I am excited anytime type 1 and the issues surrounding it are publicized. Haven't read the book yet, would be interesting to see what he thinks should be done about it. Any thoughts?
I made a point of listening to the interview on Monday. It was good. He did a fantastic job of saying that blaming the t1 for their disease is inapprorpiate and stated that the better control a person has, the more low they are likely to have, and that even if you do everything perfectly, there will be incidents of low or high blood sugars. It was just nice to hear echos of my own beliefs on a national radio broadcast. I thought about trying to post the story here but just didn't get around to it. Thanks, Jennifer for the link!
I heard the very last seconds of his interview on the radio but I'm interested to find out more about what he has to say. It's great that information about type 1/diabetes in general is being publicly broadcasted because it is such a misunderstood disease.
The author did a good job of selling the book and a "BAD" job of educating about D and Type 1 D. The interviewer was not prepared, the producer let some lousy calls through and the writer was very wrong in his facts about T1D, current technology and the role of the FDA.
I long for a knowledgeable host and interviewee for a show about the 2 different Ds, and what it is like to manage them, not suffer from the D.
