Is anyone banking their baby's cord blood for your future use? We are expecting our second child in December. I was diagnosed w T1D 3 weeks after my first child was born and that was over 8 years ago. We considered it then, but it was so expensive... now it's like we are getting another opportunity but I'm not sure research is far enough along to go through the expense of cord blood banking. Is there anyone else who is more educated on this?
There are other posts on this site on the topic so search around a bit. Basic consensus is that it's better to put the $$ in a college fund for your child since no researchers have been successful at turning stem cells into actively producing insulin cells.
