What book have you found to be most helpful and informative? I’m looking at “Think Like a Pancreas”, but first I want some input.
Thanks,
Rose
you already picked my fav, second one would be
“Using Insulin: Everything You Need for Success with Insulin” by John Walsh (Author), Ruth Roberts (Author), Chandrasekhar Varma (Author)
and one for consideration
"Diabetes Burnout: What to Do When You Can’t Take It Anymore" by William H. Polonsky Ph.D. (Author)
good luck
Thanks! I ordered the first two.
Sweet Kids, by the ADA.
The books recommended are all good.
I don’t think there’s just one. You’ll find useful and not helpful information in almost every book. Try to stick with ones that are published in the last 10-15 years and that are written by diabetics or the parents of diabetics.
Find an author that takes a real world approach to diabetes.
The best introductory book is the Pink Panther guide to diabetes.
I like Riva Greenberg’s “50 Diabetes Myths That Can Ruin Your Life; And the 50 Diabetes Truths That Can Save It.” Great book for a type 1 or 2. When I was in bad diabetes burnout I was really helped by Sherri Colberg and Steven Edelman’s “50 Secrets of the Longest Living People with Diabetes.”
The Spike and Bo Loy books are good but they are a little overboard when it comes to sick days and advocate for taking a cooler of food wherever they go.
There are tons of great online resources too. The author of “Think Like a Pancreas” has online classes at www.type1university.com. Ginger Vieira and other bloggers have great information on DiabetesMine.
