SARAH

Sarah,

Make sure your teachers know that you have type 1, that way you can just ask and go get a snack!! I was a rhythmic gymnastics for 5 years and 1 of those years I had type 1.  The training was 4 hours everyday, so I needed about 2 snacks in there at least!  But most of all listen to your body, because your body knows best:-)

Let your little light shine, Jess

Thanks jess. My grade six teacher has a husband with type 2 so she knows finger pokes and dieting

Mary was in school for about a week after she was diagnosed before summer break.  Kids were in awe, they were freaked, they didn't care.  It all depends on the kids.  Then it was normal to them and no one cared.  Just be yourself, be brave, And remember that going to school is way different than being at home.  Check your sugar extra until you get a feel for how it is going to react to the exercise and different eating times, etc.

Take care.

Dianemarie's advice is good.  The excitement from starting school can drop blood sugar, so make sure to have snacks with you and test a lot the first few days.
