I wish in Canada I could get a dexcom but i only have mm as the option which kinda sucks. But anyways headed to my endos to talk about it, and i'm pretty nervous. i am also finding out my a1c..anyone wanna guess?
my last a1c was 8.4(or maybe 8.2...i can't remember), before that 7.4 on the pump due to lows, before that 9.8, before that 9.9, before that 8.5, before that 7.6.
Thanks fo ryour reply on the pumps. I am comfortable with the shots right now. I feel like I have more control. I hope you get a great A1C reading today.
Is there a prize for whoever is closest with their guess? I accept chocolate and puppies.
I am hoping for a 7.9 for you. :)
Good luck with the CGM talk! Please let us know what they say.

I got a Q for you Kim...is it true they only last 9months? or am i reading this info wrong? "Glucose transmitter life: appox. 9months with continuous useage"...so would i need to re-buy one every 9months? (the transmitter is $700!)
I will give you virtual puppies and chocolate if that is good enough? haha.
The Dexcom transmitters have a one year limited warranty, but I want to say that they only last about that long - it's whenever the transmitter's battery dies, you have to get a new one. So yeah, unfortunately, that sounds about right. I'm only at the 6-month mark, so I haven't found out on my own yet what that really comes out to.
well there is no winner! my a1c was 8.3! tho my endo is fine with that cuz i'm usually in the low 8's so it's not getting higher.
we talked about the guardian and he also told me about the ipro which i didnt know was a new product available by the same company! instead of giving real time, you put it on for 3days, then download the results to find a pattern, change your insulin then put it on for another 3 days a week or so later and do it again. after talking to him about what i wanted, all three of us(my mom was there) agreed it sounds more like what i need than real-time results.
Hey, that must be the one I wore a couple of years ago. I knew it was a MM one, but didn't know the name. My doctor's office slapped one on me for four days, then downloaded the info, and we discussed it and looked at the graphs at my next appointment. Huh!
Is that covered for you, too? Are you thinking of getting it for sure??? :) :)
