10 Reasons to Cure Diabetes?

I was working with Bri to make up an endo shirt for her last night when she came up with a brilliant idea: print a t-shirt with a list of 10 on it. So, what if we do 10 reasons to cure juvenile diabetes? I have an idea for #1, but I'm hoping everyone else will be willing to help me come up with the other 9?

Thanks,
Alyssa

Alyssa,

Off the top of my head, I will offer up the following, not so much because I think you can use them but because I am hoping that people will realize that if they don’t write something down quick– you may have to use them:

Want a healthier world with lower health care costs?  Cure diabetes!

Curing diabetes: It’s worth a shot!

A cure is a really sweet idea and it’s totally D friendly!

Cure Type 1 diabetes and stop shooting children…

Cheers!

A-D

I've only got one for you darling and I don't know if your going to like but it was the 1st thing that came to mind

Cure diabetes, so I won't have to live off "AAA" batteries

CJ

help bakeries and candy supplies thrive

to let that little baby who cant speak have a chance at life!

oh geez. i read AD's "cure type 1 diabetes and stop shooting children" and couldn't stop laughing.

I know, C! It's still making me laugh. In fact, I couldn't resist making a T-shirt about it... as I told A-D, I would wear that just to see people's (including my parents'! Aw man, teachers/bosses would be PRICELESS!) expressions.

Here's an image of it:

I'm gonna have to print that one, it's too good lol

And I apologize for going maniac and posting T-shirts all over the heck of the place! I feel weird just running around yelling (typing), "Here, have a T-shirt image!" "Here, have a T-shirt image!" Please, let me know when you all get annoyed and I swear I'll quit ;)

Alyssa,

Don't worry about it darling you are not upseting or annoying anyone with your awesome t-shirt designs if anything it has shown many of us on this site just how focused and driven you are. And of course how creative you are. And if anything I would like it is a lesson to the rest of us that have just been focusing on getting ourselves through this, that there are people like you out there that are taking the fight head on and beacause of people like you we will find a cure. And that includes myself in that catorgery to.

Sorry had to say my piece and say that I think that you are so talented and wish you all the luck with getting your shirts printed and one request when you get your website up and running could you please add an option for people like me that don't have a credit card. Cause you have already printed 4 or 5 shirts that I would love to get from you.

CJ

Because in finding a cure you will be helping so many people.

Because finding a cure will allow so many people to thrive.

Curing those with Type One will allow kids to once again develop a healthy fear of needles.

Alyssa,

That shirt rocks - I love the syringe add on the back... nice touch!

Cheers!

Alyssa,

please don't ever stop posting the shirts!!!  I LOVE them!  when i used to get bored at my old job i would research funny t-shirts.  You rock!

One reason not to cure it: Who would I pick on when Juvenation closes down??

Dude!  That is sooooooo not funny!

I want one of those shirts I think there really  neat. Let me know how to get one. I am trying to come up with 10 reasons to cure Juvnile Dibeties I just need to think on it for awhile.

why would we close juvenation down? we could talk about how great our life is and what we remember of the past of having diabetes.

Exactly, Courtenay! Comiserate over 'I just ate 100 waffles, and didn't have to take insulin. Then I threw up from so much food, and didn't have to keep eating to make up for the insulin I took!' (isn't that the worst when that happens?!)

luckily, thats never happened to me. but being sick the last few days, it kinda made me nervous because wouldnt that just happen again when your sick?

Except we wouldn't have to eat to make up for insulin we took. For example, you eat some ice cream and take 20 carbs worth of insulin. But if you throw it up, you have to eat 20 more carbs to make up for the insulin. So, when we're cured and throw up our 100 waffles, we don't have to eat the carbs back to keep our blood sugar stable.

Not sure if this was what you were asking, but ta-da :)

And, this is cool: we won't have to eat anything when we're sick. My parents always make me eat, take insulin, drink something, etc. to ward off ketoacidosis (have I mentioned how much I love that word? It's just fun to say!)

hahaha i really like the "AAA" batteries one that is so great

  1. No need for sugar free chocolate.
  2. No more 'so you can't have sugar' or 'is that a pager' comments.
  3. A lot less "moody" people in the world.
  4. Type what?
  5. Don't have to hear the term "diabetic complications" anymore.
  6. Save yarn - cats will have plenty of tubing to play with.
  7. Healthcare insurance companies will lose a TON of revenue!
  8. Happier siblings -  I wouldn't have to break off needles from the syringe to chase my brother around with it filled with water saying "It's insulin, I'm going to kill you" (he not knowing the needle was off)-      Yes, I did that, but that's what an older brother got if he teased me about having diabetes.
  9. Give the world millions of new smiles.
