I gained weight when I started tight control based on the recommendations of DCCT. The most I've weighed is 220 lbs. Right now I am at 190 lbs but would like to lose another 10 lbs, mainly belly fat.
Today my wife and I walked for 40 minutes.
The challenge is to stay away from all the sweet stuff that is so readily available. Fresh fruit and veggies are great!!
Ok, I want to join in too! I know I can lose the pounds if I just stay focused and I hope this will help me stay focused. The thing with me is that I want to lose 6 to 8 lbs which is why I keep putting it off... I have not gotten serious about it because it is just a few pounds. BUT I know my clothes will fit better and I will feel better if I just do it.
Current Weight on a good day: 116, on a bad day 118.6
Goal Weight: 108-110
Issues: Putting off exercise because the weather is bad or I am tired, drinking alcohol which lowers my ability to resist high calorie foods, staying up too late and then being too tired to get up and exercise in the morning, enjoying eating and drinking with my husband, PMS! haha.
Solutions: Plan 1 hour of exercise a day, Set out my workout clothes the night before, Drink a full glass of water before eating a meal, Cut back to drinking only 1 night a week, re-read Dr. Bernstein, The Diabetes Diet!
Love the idea of starting this group! I've actually been working out and dieting really hard lately..I have lost 20 pounds since October but have a little more to go!
Current: 131 pounds
Goal: 120 pounds for now! (once I hit that, I will see if I'm happy with that target weight)
I've recently started a vegan diet: no meat, dairy, eggs, or sugar! I can't cut back on ALL of that cold turkey, so I'm still eating some sugar...That needs to stop! I also need to drink ALOT more water, espically a glass before every meal.
On a better note: I've recently joined a gym and try to go at least 5 days per week for at least an hour..Had my first session with a personal trainer the other day as well! =)
I weighed in this week, lost another 3.6, so now I am up to a total of 7 lbs lost. I love reading what everyone is up to, it is inspiring!
Here is to a good week coming up, this weekend has been rough on the diet. Went to San Francisco on Saturday and had a great dinner, had pizza on Friday night and tonight. It is going to rain here all week so I better figure out some inside exercise. I have 8 month old twins so maybe some baby and mommy exercise sessions.
Have you (or anyone else) found a method for doing a pretty strenuous cardio regimen that doesn't cause you to go low later? I hate drinking juice in the middle of a work out--just feels like I'm gaining all those calories back. :(
So I feel that all my hard work isn't paying off because I seem to snack ALL the time...I recently started working the night shift (11pm-7am or 7pm-7am) and I'm still adjusting to being up all night...During the day, I am only able to sleep a few hours before waking up--my body can't get the hang of this still! Anyways....I start falling asleep at work (which is not an option because i'm in home health) so I snack on some food to help keep my "busy" and "awake"...Any other ideas??? lol
About a year ago I started an intense walking program and found this great website for keeping track of how far I've walked. It is a great motivator for me because I've got it signed up to send me emails when I don't record my distances. It is a virtual walk/run/bike across America. You start in Virginia and walk to Oregon. It's been interesting to see my "travels" because it gives you pictures along the way. You can also choose partners and/or form a team to keep up with how others are doing. The website is http://exercise.lbl.gov (there is no www in it).
So - I'm hoping I'll be able to put this to use. This is my first time here and I am definitely looking for help/support for weight loss. I am not yet quite ready to post what my weight is - it is rather out of control. I do have at least 125 pounds to lose. It's a struggle, we all know that. So we shall see what happens ;-) Good luck to all on your weight loss endeavors no matter how big or how small.
lol So I am all for weight loss and muscle building. I get home from my job and can't sleep at night because my legs hurt. I try to just manage through and not take any pain relievers for it, but then it just dawned on me. This is the perfect reason for me to start exercising again!
I talked with my BF about it, we both need to loose about 30 lbs, I personally want to weigh 130 and he would look awesome at 145. So I have started my food/ insulin journal again and and started a 30+ min/day Dance Dance Revolution workout sessions again. I LOVE DDR!! and will dance till my pants fall off. While playing I will automatically start drinking more water (because it is one hell of a workout) and start taking less insulin (save money.) woho!
Next I am making a carbs per day meal card, I'll post some up once I get them made for everyone.
What I did well today: Changed my lunch time ratio so I didn't go low in the afternoon, therefore avoiding eating any snack before dinner

I don't think I can help you out, but I can empathize with the snacking! It's soo hard to lose a couple pounds/try to tone when your bg is low and you have to eat. I already eat healthy, balanced meals, and even when I'm not hungry I sometimes have to eat 3 snacks in one day because of lows, and it is frustrating! So I totally get where you're coming from. I guess maybe you could try having some baby carrots around, or grab some while your husband is snacking on chips-- carrots are munchy so you feel like you're eating a lot, but they have all good stuff in them! Good luck!
