Our son is not a big breakfast eater (like me), but I try to get him to eat at least before 10:00 am. He's not having any problem with lows before breakfast, so I'm not pushing it too much. But, I am trying to be sure he gets protein in the morning to help avoid drops before lunch. So, I end up making eggs EVERY MORNING. I know it's not healthy to eat the same thing every day, especially eggs, so how else do you get protein in the morning?
It may have been because I was used to doing needles for years already..but when I was about 10 I tried the inject ease at a party I was at with my mom..something to do with this other diabetic kid that was there using one..and their parent suggesting I try it and my mom thinking it was a great idea.....nevertheless.....terrified me to death with it's suddenly noise and stab! I have never touched one since.
I used the inject-ease too, but my doctor gave it too me in the hospital. It worked fine, and for a long time I couldn't give myself an injection without it (I was so used to an instant injection). When I finally started giving manual injections I stopped bruising so much, and found the injections hurt less.
my mom takes wheat bagles and puts egg, cheese and bacon or sausage patties on it and makes a sandwich. its really good and it provides a different way to have eggs and it gives variety.
Cheesestrings! They're quick, easy, yummy and fun!

By themselves? :)

I have gotten away from my good habit of eating breakfast, but I find that having just one cheesestrings in the morning provides protein and gets my metabolism in gear for the rest of the morning!
Yikes -- I don't know how you guys can not eat breakfast!! I'm only eating 1200 calories right now, so even though I don't skip breakfast (except for when I sleep in on days I plan on eating something big/bad... one less meal ;) to have to tally) my brain is a scrambled MESS when I eat light. I started failing tests at school nearing the end of the year -- straight F's, totally out of character -- so I'm just thankful I've got the summer to be all scrambled in :)
I always just count the milk in my cereal as my breakfast protein. There's no way I'd get to work in the morning if I cooked eggs, but I'd eat them every day for breakfast if DH would cook them. lol. As long as the cereal is low carb, I'm *usually* ok w/ post breakfast spikes...

OMG, no time to scramble an egg? You must be more frazzled than I am :)
Well, if it's protein you're looking for, you could just always eat a glop of peanut-butter-in-a-bowl (hey, PBB!)... but then that starts into the fat content issue lol

Okaaaaay, so eggs it is :) I definitely "mix it up" as much as possible, doing variations on a pan-fry with hashbrown, bacon, sweet peppers (not that the kids don't pick those out), onions (same deal), and whatever else sounds good. Breakfast burritos are always a hit, but the refried beans I think have plenty of carbs. Then, there's just plain-ol' cheesy eggs for the kids, and fancy eggs with everything but the kitchen sink for me and hubby. That just seems like a whole lot of eggs every week (come to think of it, it is a whole lot of eggs, based on how many we buy). Maybe we should just get some suburban chickens :)

BTW, what's with the peanut butter in a bowl? The boys have started doing the glob of peanut butter, with a glop of jelly mixed in. Ugh! It's not like we don't have crackers, or anything! :)
You've got me there, Monique. I love chocolate :) In fact I should be eating less of it lately because I've been getting creative with the smores haha and in the mean time it's practically killing my blood sugars
