Needs suggestions for weight loss

Okay, so for the last month I've been on a diet, trying to lose 10lbs.  I'm not overweight, but after increasing my insulin I gained some unnecessary/unwanted weight.  I am exercising at least 30 minutes a day (2-3 days a week, it is an hour).  I eat around 1200-1400 calories a day.  Here is my typical food diary:

B: 1 cup nonfat greek yogurt w/one cup berries or 3 egg beaters and a banana

L: hummus single serve pack with cucumbers, celery, and tomatoes

D: tofu with salad and light dressing or tofu with veggies and sweet potatoe or bunless veggie burger with veggies or tuna salad lettuce wraps

Snack (1 a day): fat free popcorn or sugar free pudding or sugar free fudgicle

Drink 2 cups of coffee in morning and water throughout the day.  I am vegetarian and gluten free.  So tell me what I am doing wrong to be gaining weight instead of losing it.  PLEASE HELP!

This looks really good...what I have done is I totally took away everything except veggies, fruit, meat, oils and nuts and seeds.  This will be hard at first but it works really  well!  I highly recommend it.  Please keep in mind this is NOT a low carb diet, I would not recommend a low carb diet either. You can get alot of carbs from fruit and veggies.  I would also add more protein this can help boot your metabolism.

Good luck, and let me know how you are doing!

P.S.  Maybe get your thyroid checked, I had low thyroid and it really affects your metabolism a lot, I have been eating like 500 more calories then I used to.

Thanks for the information!  I try to keep the carbs between 130-150 a day.  I don't like meat and I'm trying to find other ways to get protein.  I have been logging all my food in an online food diary that breaks down the calories, fat, protein, carbs, etc. and I thought it looked good, but apparently not.  At my last dr visit in April, my thyroid was fine, so I don't know what could be causing this.  ughh the frustrations of diabetes!

it sounds like you aren't eating enough. 1200 calories is the minimum for anyone - i rarely tell anyone to go below 1500. your body needs calories - not just for your day to day activities, but for energy while you're sleeping or your body is at rest. even though we may be sleeping, our body still burns calories to run our natural processes. when we don't eat enough, our body actually stores calories as fat instead of allowing it to be burned for energy. this could quite possibly be what's happening to you. if you increase the number of calories you're eating during the day, you might notice weight loss begins to happen again because your body is ok with using the calories instead of storing them.
