My daughter was just diagnosed last weekend 12/14! I am right there with you :( I think we have a good handle on everything but at the same time, it is SO very overwhelming. I am hoping to meet other mommies on here to help me with my worries and the over abundance of questions I just know I will have :)
Hi Tabitha my son was dx 3 yrs (Dec 8) ago when he was 6 yrs old. At first it is overwhelming with all the information to try and remember. But after a while it just comes to you. And there will be highs and lows and sometimes you won't even know really why. All you can do is treat them. My son did shots for almost three years(he finally got the pump Dec 3 12) and his numbers were all over the place. It is overwhelming for them at first as well they have so much information to try and absorb as well. My son loves going to our JDRF's Family Retreat they have every year and we found a summer camp this summer where there are lots of other kids doing the same thing(testing shots etc) I have found this site and the Family Retreat to be a great source of information. Glad you found this site. If you would ever like to talk I would be glad to be your listening ear.
Hello cgantman it is very overwhelming. My son was dx 3 weeks before Christmas 3 years ago. It is good you found this site I have found a lot of useful information. I also have found alot of information at our JDRF chapters annual Family Retreat. My son enjoys meeting and playing with the other kids in the kids rooms while I have a chance to meet and talk to other parents that are going through the same things we are. If you haven't already I would suggest contacting your local JDRF chapter. And if you have any questions or just want to talk I would be glad to be your listening ear.
