Hi Red-How far away do you think the artificial pancreas is ? I have heard 5 or 10 years away ? I wish they would change the name-but I do think this would be great. What would it be like-a pump with high tec-knowledge?
I have the colored infusion set, I want my tubing to be pink too.
a cure would be nice, but i'm 15 and have had type 1 since i was 4 years old. It's become my way of life and i can't imagine life without it. If you think about it there are a lot of advantages and positive things about having diabetes. Although i can imagine how it feels if you were recently diagnosed.
So some of these are direct T1 wishes, and some of these are indirect T1 D wishes that would significantly reduce stress...
A full time job that I enjoy and that challenges me, or, if not that, then approval for a loan to go to graduate school...in other words, a future
Health insurance for my fiance...stable health insurance for me...
The right to privacy and dignity.
A house where no one can pry into our personal affairs or threaten us or our family...
Or, if not that, continued good fortune and protection from the Powers that Be against negative interactions with the apartment managers or "owners."
Oh, and an insulin pump that works with my DSi (I think that is what it is called)...
Making enough money to actually save...
Paying off all of the debt...
Do you remember or have you ever seen Mood Rings? I'd like a Mood Pump with Mood Tubing. I'd like a pump that I can configure to make unique alert sounds, ones that I compose myself...I would LOVE to program science fiction B-movie alert sounds, for instance, or Moog synthesizer sounds, or theramin sounds...into the pump. Man...I would adore that. Surely there's a way to do this...I just have to think of it...must it always be so serious...beep. beep. beep. or zzz. zzz. zzz. Snore. Seriously.
I love the way that I can put a little personality into my pump now. On the home page is its name--Hal. Underneath the name is a phrase---Cat Lady in Training...
I have basal rate titles like, "Oh Lord, here we go again" and "Sick as a Dog."
I want a lot more, though. I massive amount more. Cell phones have completely corrupted me. And I still want an Add-Water-Doctor that I can plop on the sidewalk to verify that indeed, I did nothing to get this.

Oh my gosh, I remember the mood rings. Wouldn't it be awesome if they could make rings that would change color depending on if we're high or low?
Sarah...that would be a righteous thing indeed. Back when, it was a little bit like that (at least my back when versus someone else's back when). Test tube plus eh not pleasant substance plus tablet = color...blue, orange...etc.
What would be the color for the elusive 120 mg/dl?Or the elusive ideal mmol number...
And for the quintessential nerd, the Star Trek communicator beep sound with the first button hit on the pump. The beep, you know, that Captain Kirk et al made when they used their cell phones...hee.

Teal its calming but not blue which to me says low and green is over rated ok really teal is just my favorite color lol.
Did you see the color changing contacts in the news for 2009 topic in forums?
Jessica...
Wow. I missed the color changing contacts. That sounds like a hoot...I will have to check them out.
They are still working on making them a reality according to the article but if they do and they work it would be so cool to just look at my daughters eyes to know if she is to high or to low.
I vote purple for the perfect number, just because it's my favorite color. (=
I vote for blue, the same shade as is used for diabetes awareness!
