Morning highs

I’m 32 weeks now and am having good control during the day, but at five in the morning my blood sugar begins to spike. My endo and diabetes educator aren’t super concerned, however my OB talks like its the end of the world. I do agree they are too high 100- 140 range usually, but I’m having a hard time keeping them down. Anyone had this problem and found some success? I keep increasing my basal rate but it doesn’t seem to do the trick. Maybe I’m just playing catch up?

Also how do you guys feel about the whole endo and OB not agreeing on what are good sugars? My endo isn’t so worried about my periodic highs( all under 200, rarely above 150), but my OB worries about a blood sugar of 130. I’d love to keep my blood sugar where they want it, but it seems impractical to think I’ll always be in that range given the constant fluctuating hormones.

Anyway, just wondering what you all think or have experienced.

Listen to your endo. Yes having highs aren't good, but if they are all under 200, your doing great!! My endo said that I should keep my sugars 80-150 regularly (I am not pregnant) but everyone is entitled to their opinion. Tell your OBGYN that she needs to learn more about type 1 diabetes, she should speak to your endo or you should just switch to a high-risk OBGYN (they'll know more).

The reason your OB wants you to be lower is because 1. Your baby can become bigger and rather quickly toward the end . Trust me I know from experience! I just had a baby two months ago 10lbs 13oz had him at 39 weeks. 2. At birth if the baby has been used to higher blood sugars he can be hypoglycemic that is what they try to avoid. During labor they wanted me at 80-100 the entire time. I was induced but ended up in a csection by choice. Highs do happen but I would try to correct quickly and try not to stress too much about it. Both doctors are right but at this point I would listen to OB. Hope this helps
