Hi everyone, I am new here. My 13 month old son was just diagnosed type 1 and I am trying to make a pump choice. I have googled reviews on the veo and the ping and I am so torn. I really want the remote of the ping but it seems Medtronic is an over all more advanced system. Does anyone have any thoughts/advice? I would appreciate it.
Hi @JanetMadeline,
I’m sorry to hear that your son was recently inducted into this T1 “club”. I can only guess what you are going through, decisions, frustrations and wanting the very best for him. You have come to the right place for support and questions - and venting when needed; there are many experienced people here willing to offer suggestions based on many years of living with T1.
If the deciding factor in pumps is a “remote”, Medtronic has that - at least the three Medtronic Paradigm pumps I’ve used have a remote device that can either input and start a bolus, or turn off all insulin flow - my wife has one handy to suspend my pump if I drop to low to intelligently manage on my own.
I have only used Medtronic pumps and have found them perfect for me, so I can’t advise on the Ping. When first reading the pump manual or looking at the various menus I can understand that you may be confused, but once you are experienced it becomes rather simple; feel free to ask any and all questions.
