Hey if a splurge can save ones life, than it is not really a splurge. After a few weeks of debate I finally found one that I myself like and can bear wearing... I think. I never realized how much time can go into a decision such as this. I mean a few years back when I went car shopping it took me a little over a week to decide on something that would put me in debt for years. Yet, when I look at maybe spending less than $100 on a new medic alert, I can't rationalize spenfing the money on something that may be tacky. Weird. But once I get around to buying it, I will let you know what I bought and if I am actually happy. (I am so weird sometimes)
As I said earlier when I was looking for my new medic alert id, I would let you know what I found. I ended up going with http://www.n-styleid.com/LE6.html as my id of choice. It is really awesome, very simple and good at blending in. however, when the end comes it is very noticeable and others will know what is going on. I got the blue emblem, but it looks black in some lights. I like it and am happy though.
Cool Brian! Glad you like it!
It's more than I used to have or at least that people could see...
I have a medic alert bracelet that actually looks like it could be a tiffany's bracelet if you don't look too closely :)

I'm not sure if this is only available in Canada or if it is available in the US as well but its the first medic alert I have ever owned that I actually like wearing!
I used to wear Medic Alert bracelets - but a few years ago - when I had to come under with sails up into port due to engine conking out (you are "supposed" to come under power with your engine") - when I leapt out of the boat onto to the dock - with the ropes to secure the boat (and sort of stop it) - well - the Medic Alert bracelet got ripped off my wrist. This was the 2nd time in sailing that this happened to me - and it was beginning to get expensive - even with the cheapest bracelet. :)
A few years ago I came across this website called Rescue Me ID's - which is aimed at kids ... like me <lol>. It's pretty well indestructable - and so far - hasn't been gone plunk into the water. I wear the bungee band one - my medical tag is turquoise - and I've changed the bungee a few times. It's kinda cool looking - and not too expensive. I'm thinking of getting another one just so I have a different colour (purple maybe).
Here's the link to take a look at them - and other models that they sell - http://www.rescuemeids.com/medicalidplates.aspx
yes i have a really cute charm bracelet that has this little heart charm and on it is the medic alert sign and all that. everyone just thinks it's like a tiffany's charm bracelet or something until you actually look at the charm, so it's really discreet and i love it!
I just got a medic alert bracelet from these people http://www.anzie.com/diabeteslifesaveralertbracelet-p-1122.html?osCsid=813957bc71bbc2205f45092508a77c1e
I paid $175 and they customized it for me I will post up a picture of it once my camera gets charged. I really like it...I probably paid too much but, it is something I finally don't mind wearing.
Check out Lauren's Hope. It is only for diabetics and there are maginificent bracelets.
I ordered just the engraved piece and a little charm without the actual chain and I'm going to make a bracelet around that. My mom and I make our own jewelry so it should turn out nice when I get it!

Go to A.C. Moore or Michaels or any craft store, get jump rings (they connect the charm to whatever your putting it on, a chain or w/e), they have ones that are like this (jump rings) that are more sturdy than anything else. You will never have a problem with anything falling off.
I ordered a sportband style from americanmedicalid.com it's a weaved (? i guess thats what it's called) with an engraved tag on the top so it's easily visible. I haven;t gotten it yet but hope to get it soon! I hate the one i have it's a traditional stainless steel bracelet with the tag that says diabetic!
