In need of a new alert necklace!

I am in need of a new alert necklace. My washer has seem to have had mine for lunch.

Anyone know of a good website to find them on? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

Josh

i like http://www.laurenshope.com they have an abundance of girly ones, but they've also started carrying "manly" medic alert IDs. some of the proceeds go to JDRF.

Hey Josh -

Bad washer! I've never worn an alert necklace, I'm partial to a bracelet. I'm a Medical Alert member, so I get my "tags" through their website. The classic chain bracelet isn't really my style, so I opt for the sport bands:

I have three bands. One I wear, one I keep at school (in case I forget to put the other one on), and one I wear when I'm out in the field doing research (it's a neon-y yellow). Plus, a membership with Medical Alert comes with a wallet card. I'm happy using them. Though now I might look into getting a necklace, too. I'm aiming for major bling now :P

I needed a new one anyways have had this one for awhile now. Still has my parents phone number on it. Have not lived with my parents for almost seven years now. I think the washer was trying to tell me something.

Thanks for the sites off now too check them out.

We got our daughter's bracelet on Lauren's hope - as the other posters said it is more girly but they do have some for guys.

I buy the ones that ones that you get at the drug store.  It says "DIABETIC"  on the back.  I've the current one I have for 5+ years.  Can't remember exactly.  I only take it off for one thing.  Makes it hard to lose :)

I saw on laurnshope they had one shaped like a guitar pick.  Why no drumsticks?

Going to do some more checking around might go see if the local pharmacy has some that I can get personalized.

Drumsticks would be cool.

Excuse me Sir, ae those drumsticks down your shirt?

Nope, it's my medical alert I.D. I don't know why people keep calling them drumsticks.

I have been a fan of the N-Style bracelets.

They have many options from both necklace to bracelet. I currents have the simple rubber bracelet (BLUE). But I have a chain as well. Many options to customize. Various prices and not to obvious.

Oh and when I read Drumsticks, for some reason I was thinking like turkey or chicken. Must be a very hungry Vegetarian right now to be thinking turkey.

+1 for N-StyleID.com.  They have a great selection of medical necklaces, and they also give a portion of their proceeds to JDRF.

I've never had an issue when I order from them.

i love my bracelets from coolmedid.com i know they sell necklaces but i havent looked at them.

I have heard that EMTs never look for necklaces.... So I wear a bracelet on my wrist. I figure the pump tubing is a clear giveaway (and once they start investigating a little they'll see this thing inside me) but the wrist is where EMTs check for a pulse so... that's why I put mine on there.

I DO get tired of it sometimes (and i don't love having something on my wrist) so I think if I ever want to "take a bracelet break" i'll get a simple medallion type of id thing on a chain.

I can tell you from experience EMTs don't look for bracelets either. I didn't wear medical ID for quite some time after that, but mom finally bought me one and told me to wear it so she wasn't wasting the money. Haha.

Hello to the list   =)

I definitely am of the opinion that everyone who has a chronic medical condition needs to have a medical identification tag of some sort.   My tag of choice are dog tags.

Mine include my  Name, SSN, DOB, Blood Type,  My Parents Home Telephone Number,  and the words  " I Take Insulin ",  " Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus ".

My tags have come in handy a few times when I have had to have D5W  pumped into me in the ambulance en route to the county hospital, while I was at University.   As the hospital wants to know your SSN, Name, and DOB to get paid.

www.americanmedical-id.com is fully customizable with many designs including dog tags, if nothing else appeals to you.

Hey guys,

I was diagnosed with diabetes in 2009 and my doctor told me right away to get some sort of medical ID.  I went back and forth between an ID bracelet and a medical alert necklace and decided on the necklace.  I just don't like wearing stuff on my wrists, not even a watch.

Ordered it from American Medical ID I believe it was.  It's turned out fine and I got one that didn't feel uncomfortable around my neck.  I'm a guy so the "dog tag" style was one I liked.

I found a website called Sticky Jewelry (http://www.stickyj.com/) that has a lot off different types of medical IDs. Also, if you use the code "peaceonearth" you can get 20% off from now until Christmas!
