Hi timr25 - This is the first time I've discussed this :)
I use Novolog in my Minimed Paradigm Revel pump. I average around 45 units a day ... 19.25 Basal, the remainder in Bolus (food and correction).

I am a baby for some reason. Basal = 3.6, Bolus~7-11, so 11-15 units/day on average.

Are you still honeymooning? That on top of being active means you'd use "very little" comparatively. I was in the exact same boat after I got diagnosed (just 5 years ago), I remember it used to make me feel "less diabetic" because I used "so little", which is insanely goofy. It's not a contest! I'm still honeymooning a little now I think (although I've increased my basal rates a TON over the past couple months) so hopefully you can drag yours out for a couple years too:)
My basal is only about... 6.5 units a day and yesterday I bolused around 35 (i AM a hungry hungry hippo.) So i'm about 40 units a day average.
My son is 5, he is 7-10 units per day. About 30% basal and 70% food/corrections. OUr endo said that is about right until his honeymoon ends, then the ratio will probably be about 40% basal, 60% meals. If that helps any pumpers as a guideline.
I also thought Courtney is still probably honeymooning based on low doses and her fabulous A1C. Keep it up girl! Our endo said the better control you have early, the longer the honeymoon seems to last (which really means that your pancreas it still doing at least some of its job.) :)
I've been changing my basal rate a lot lately so I use about 8 units per day for my basal and anywhere from 10-30 units per day for bolus depending on what momma made for dinner.
I have been T1D for 16 years this coming halloween, I am on insulin injections, and I take 75 units of Humilin NPH and about 30 units of Humalog everyday split up between 4 and 5 injections throughout the day. I don't even feel the needles going into my skin anymore.
I take 60-85 units a day. 44.5 of that is basal. I'm on Novolog and use a pump.
Sarah's basal is 5.75 per day, and her average daily bolus is about 10, so it looks like she's averaging about 16 units of novalog per day.
Mine jumps around a bit depending on my carbs but I usually average around 30-35 units a day (I'm on the pump with humalog). I'm trying to cut back carbs and I just recently went vegetarian so my diet has been a bit crazy.
On a 30 day average:
47.34 units/day
Basal 21.02 units (44%)
Bolus 26.32 (56%)
I use Novolog and I'm on a pump.
I take 30U of Lantus every morning and an avg of 15U of Humolog
I take 30 units of Levemir in morning and 35 at night. 65 daily. + Novolog which I'm on a 1:6 ratio and a BG-100/15 correction. normally bout 60-80units a day.
Lately it's gone down to about 6-9 units/day (still 3.5 units for basal). I think I'm winning (totally kidding... but really, I am).
I take 60 units of levemir in the morning, between 6-12 units of humalog at both breakfast and dinner (using a sliding scale) and 4 units of levemir at night before I sleep. I also take 4 metformin and 2 glyburide pills daily.. its a lots of medication :S but it works!
I take more then 100U
In the last 60 days I've switched doctors, had my diagnosis corrected (from T2 to T1 after much blood work), my medications switched, and my ratio played with. That being said, this is currently what I take
12 Levemir morning
20 Levemir night
36-50 Humalog depending on carbs and pre-meal levels.
One of these days things will settle down (don't burst my bubble... I'm dreaming, I know. <grin>)
I'm on MDI
5 units humalog @ Breakfast and lunch, 7 units humalog @ dinner and 10 units lantus @ bedtime.
I also take 1 extra unit of humalog for every 50 points over 150. (ex: if I'm 250, I would take my normal 5 units plus 2 extra to cover the high bs)
About 20, on average.
5.279 basal, if I don't suspend my pump at all.
So about 15 in boluses.
(That basal number is wild to me, because I was taking 10 units of lantus before switching to the bump. On the pump using novolog, 10 was just WAY too much!)
I use Apidra in my MM 722 Pump. My doctor switched me from Novalog to Humalog and now to Apidra. I try really hard not to use more than 30 units a day. I gained weight at first with the insulin and cut back on carbs and increased my exercise so that I could use less insulin. It is still a daily battle.

Sorry if this has been discussed before, but i think it would be interesting to hear from other Type 1's how much insulin they are taking a day...
I use Humalog, and on a 30 day average i take 45 units a day...28.35 Basil, 16.33 Bolus...
How about everyone else?

I take humalog 7-8 units depends on my carb load three times daily before meals.....and the meal has to be in front of me when i take it or it won't work! i also use lantus 12 units every night as my basal. can't wait to get on a pump.....
my total insulin daily requirement (TIDR) is 34 units. it has just been increased from 3 months ago.
