How Long Do You Think It Will Take For a Cure to Be Available to the Masses?

In the last few months we have reported on a number of promising developments that could lead to a cure for diabetes. Here is the latest one from Diabetes News Hound: Type 1 ‘Cure’ Surgery on Path to Open to Wider Group of Diabetics

With World Diabetes Day right around the corner, I thought it would be interesting to hold an informal poll about how long you think it will take for researchers to find a way to cure Type 1 diabetes and make it available to the masses?

God . . . I hope soon!!!!!

I know i probrably shouldnt say this, im so not a negative person or a pessamist but honestly I dont think it will ever happen.

I got T1 in 1986 and they were "right around the corner" I heard this my whole life... Then as I got older I realized that between diabetic medications, supplies, vitamins etc etc etc etc  how much money would be lost and how many people would be out of jobs if there was a cure! I think there may already be a cure and the government doesnt let it out.

I do think the cure is coming.  Part  of me is with the group that thinks the profit off this disease is so great that greed is the driving force.  However, deep down I believe thier are enough morally sound and Godly people out there who want to make a difference and do great things.

If you think about it, insulin was only discovered and used in the 1920's.  Historically that has not been that long.  Think of all the advancement that has occured in the past 20 years.  I do have hope and will remain positve.

I agree with Evamarie I don't think it will ever happen in my lifetime.  When I was diagnosed I was told that within 10 years there would be cure, well that was 30 years ago and I'm still waiting.  I don't the gov't is holding back I just don't think the research and technology are there yet.  And if they do find a cure I think it will help newly diagnosed diabetics and not those who have had it a number of years.

im sorry but honestly i think it will take quite some time. they've had several "cures" and there is still no cure
