I think the USA has provided some of the best health care anyone could ask for. But the cost keeps going up. Changes are going to be made.I hope for the better and nervous about it all.If you are in the States -how do you feel about it ? If you live outside the USA--How do you feel about your health care ?

I am nervous too but hope it works out for the best. I cant afford paying about 400 a month for insurance and another 165 for the supplies we need for Riley each month oi and 40 buck copays for a regular doc and 80 for specialists. Plus I need my boys back into the docs and back on their anti seizure meds. I have never really had good experiences with doctors. They are always miss dxing and telling me I am wrong about my kids. When I am not the only one who saw what was going on wit the boys their old school did to and sent a report along with us for the doc and he didnt even glance at it. I have had doctors straight up lie to my face and I have fired them for it. Including my ob 3 days before I delivered the boys. So I do not feel our health care is all that great. I have had many more negative experiences than that. One more like taking Riley to the urgent care on monday and they not doing labs other than a rapid stress test. Tuesday it was to the ER and to find out she had very classic symptoms of diabetes and they should have seen it. Everyone at the hospital she was transferred to was MAD they didnt catch it at the urgent care.
I am grateful I get healthcare that's paid for by my employer(tho part of that is taken off my cheque with the other deductions), and if you make under a certain amount yearly and/or have dependents..you don't pay it at all! Yet we have access to whatever doctors and surgeries we need. The rare things do still cost us a bit, but so far I haven't come across that.
We have had a lot of cuts in BC thanks to Gordon Campbell and his crew of morons bidding(and winning) the 2010 Olympics and deciding to spend our Arts Funding, Sports Funding, Healthcare Funding, and Special programs funding on something that's going to put us in Debt long enough for my Grandchildren to feel it..but at least we still have Universal Healthcare in Canada(for now in BC anyways...yet ANOTHER thing Gordo is trying to do is privatize the BC healthcare..if I had the chance, I'd stab him where his heart is suppose to be).
We don't all get prescriptions covered, but we have Pharmacare for those who qualify(aka the lower middle class & poor) to help with medical supplies and such.
I am from NSW Australia, our health system is reasonable but the insurance companies are difficult in regards to claiming for pumps and wont cover CGM's.
We have a Family Medicare Safety Net which once you reach the threshold (which for my wife, child and is about $1,300) of out of pocket expenses the rest of the year you can claim back 80% of all medical expenses which is excellent. Just the other day got back $900 which will come in real handy.
Our public hospitals need a lot more money and upgrading of infrastructure and our nurses need to get better pay, there never seem to be enough to go around. I was originally seeing going to a public hospital for my consultations but have just recently switched to a private practice. Basically you pay for what you get but with the safety net it isn't too bad.
We have the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS) which is an initiative of the Australian Government administered by Diabetes Australia.
Through the administration of the NDSS, Diabetes Australia provides practical assistance, information and subsidised products to approximately 900,000 Australians diagnosed with diabetes.
Hi Jessica , I hear you about the fact that there are bad doctors out there. I like what you said -you fired the doctor . I heard that once before here. There are some nurses from YOU KNOW WHERE out there too. Thankfully most people in the medical field have their hearts and minds in the right place. They work long hours and do give everything in them to help others..........My concern on Health Care is if too many changes come--that people thinking about coming into the medical field won't.....Take Care-and I like your backbone--we all need that to stand up for our kids.

Yes most do I just tend to find the bad ones first lol My mom is a home health care nurse and everyone loves her. She has a heart and has had the same kid for jeez 7 years now maybe. Heck yeah I fired him. He said I could deliver my boys naturally if they were both head down. Then when I was a few days away from being far enough along to get off the meds to stop my preterm labor he said we need to schedule a c-section. I reminded him of what he said and he looked at me and said he never said it. I said some choice words to him and told him to get out I was going home to have my babies. I had the papers signed to leave when the nurses asked if they found me another dr that would let me deliver them the way I wanted to would I stay. I said uh yeah I dont want to deliver twins myself at home but I wont be lied to or pushed around by a employee. Doctors are not saints they get paid for their services. They just know more about what they do than most. So while I appreciate their knowledge it is not absolute and I will not put them up on a pedestal or for a moment let them make me feel less about myself and my body or my kids.
As for your concerns as long as at least nurses continue to get paid well I dont think it will be a problem. Most people I know who are nurses or working on it want to help others as well. Its more than just a job to them.
