If my sugars been high for a while, weeks. I will feel low symptoms at below 100 or so. Maybe slowly work them down. I think, maybe I was told, been doing this for decades that since my system was used to higher readings it can take time to adjust it.
@ SpiderrowdyMikey
I have to second/third the recommendation of Think Like a Pancreas. My first steps in controlling my diabetes were scary to say the least, and Think Like A Pancreas and a book called Using Insulin were great directional guidelines. I really recommend reading them for some good insight.
The next edition just came out yesterday! The old one was published several years ago and those of us with many years behind us may have been amused by what was considered “high technology” at the time. This one should be more on point and up to date.
Not all docs have learned to ‘individualize care to meet the needs of the patient.’
Does you daughter wear a CGM? Is she managed with a closed loop insulin pump like a Tandem t:Slim with Control IQ technology? What is the outcome of training her body to like a lower BG in the 80-100 range?
I used to treat any BG less than 100. Now I have trained my body to work with a BG as low as 75 without grabbing the carbs. It has taken about two years, but I am able to function well now with my BG in the 90s. I do use a Dexcom G6 and Tandem t:Slim with Control IQ technology (check it out).
Hope your daughter stays well.
Thanks for the encouraging pep talk @AbigailL.
@Spiderrowdy, Please share what you have learned from us here in your thread. If you can and will share, all of us can get greater insight to our own paths. Thanks.
