Diabetic Soundtracks

Closer to Love, Mat Kearney

She got the call today
One out of the gray
And when the smoke cleared
It took her breath away

She said she didn't believe
It could happen to me
I guess we're all one phone call from our knees

We're gonna get there soon

If every building falls
And all the stars fade
We'll still be singing this song
The one they can't take away

I'm gonna get there soon
She's gonna be there too
Cryin' in her room
Prayin' oh, Lord come through

We're gonna get there soon

Oh, it's your light
Oh, it's your way
Pull me out of the dark
Just to shoulder the weight
Cryin' out now
From so far away
You pull me closer to love
Closer to love

Meet me once again
Down off Lake Michigan
Where we could feel the storm blowin'
Down with the wind

And don't apologize
For all the tears you've cried
You've been way too strong now for all your life

I'm gonna get there soon
You're gonna be there too
Cryin' in your room
Prayin' Lord come through

We're gonna get there soon

Oh, it's your light
Oh, it's your way
Pull me out of the dark
Just to shoulder the weight
Cryin' out now
From so far away
You pull me closer to love
Closer to love

Cause you are all that I've waited for all of my life
(We're gonna get there)
You are all that I've waited all of my life

You pull me closer to love
Closer to love
Pull me closer to love (You are all that I've waited for)
You pull me closer to love
Closer to love
Closer to love (Cause you are all that I've waited for)
Closer to love

Pull me closer to love

LOL talk about old posts..

Breath in breathe out
Tell me all of your doubt
If everybody bleeds this way
just the same
Breath in breathe out
Move on and break down
If everyone.. goes away
I will stay
We push and pull,
and I fall down sometimes
I'm not letting go,
you hold the other line

(Also Mat Kearney - Breathe In Breathe Out)

Although the lyrics are not diabetes related, Alive by Pearl Jam - good chorus to sing loudly along with when you need a pick me up (although be careful when you sing it loudly in the street, as people may think you are nuts - been there, done that!)

To Whom It May Concern - Underoath

So hold your head up high and know it's not the end of the road
Walk down this beaten path before you pack your things and head home
At the end of the road you'll find what you've been longing for

I know 'cause my feet have the scars to show
I was lost with vague direction and no place to call home

It's time for you to press on
This is not your war
Set your sights to North and press on
This is not your escape
Wash way what they thought of you
Because in this place, we're all as good as dead
...end cycle...

Behind the mask you'll find yourself alone
It's not the end of road for you

This is one of my favorite songs ever... it just lets me know that there is always a way

James, you should tell the story behind that :) Sounds like a good one

I love Mat Kearney. That's a great song.

Haha. I was going to post this one the other day, but forgot about it. It's not really D-related, but parts of the song could be. And it's called Low, so that's what made me think about posting it.

Low by Coldplay

You see the world in black and white
No colour or light
You think you'll never get it right
But you're wrong... you might

The sky could fall, could fall on me
They're passing on the seas
But you mean more, mean more to me
Than any colour I can see

All you ever wanted was love
But you never looked hard enough
it's never gonna give itself up

All you ever wanted to be
Living in perfect symmetry
Nothing is as down or old as us
as us

You see the world in black and white
Not painted right
You see no meaning to your life
Yes you try
Yes you try

And all you ever wanted was love
but you never looked hard enough
it's never gonna give itself up

All you ever wanted to be
Living in perfect symmetry
Nothing is as down or old as us

And don't you wanna see it come soon
Floating in a big white balloon
Given on your own silver spoon

Don't you wanna see it come down
Death is throwing your arms around
Say it in a moment too soon

'Cause I feel low
'Cause I feel low
Ohhhhhhhhhh
Yeah I feel low
Oh no
Ohhhhhhhhhh

Ohhhhhhhhhh

'Cause I feel low
Ahhhhhhhhhh
'Cause I feel low
Ahhhhhhhhhh
But I feel low
Oh no
Ohhhhhhhhhh

hahaha. 'cause i feel low.' funny.

Exactly. That's what made me think of this thread. (=

Well, I was walking home from a party one night to my apartment and Ten was playing on my Walkman (a time before ipods).  It was early in the morning, and quite quiet.  I was quite . . . ok, very drunk, but happy!!  I love "Alive" and started to sing - but obviously, quiet in the early morning, volume was turned up loud, and because I was drunk, not entirely in control of my volume!!  So singing loudly and merrily to myself, the chorus "Oooooooh  IIIIIIII, ooooohhhh, I'm still aliveeeee, ooohhhh,  IIIIIII, oooohhhh I'm still alive  . . . . "  I became aware of a police car driving slowly next to me, with two cops in it, one laughing and the other shaking his head, either in disproval or dismay, I am not sure.  Suffice to say I shit up quite quickly!!

My song in Superman by Five for Fighting. I know it's weird but if you think about it, when it says 'its not easy to be me' its really not easy being a diabetic! I love that song!

Alyssa!

I am in love with Stay Strong By the Newsboys! One of my really good friends introduced it to me and since then ive been in love! :) I just listened to the other two songs you had mentioned and i also like those! :)

the song 3 bottles of wine by left alone, only for the line "she lives a life where everyday she bleeds."

the rest of the lyrics wouldn't make any sense because they don't relate, but that one line fits perfectly.

i found a good "cure" song. it's about someone who wake up one morning feeling different--in a good way, and s/he knows everything will be okay :o) (at least that's how i interpret it).

"so moved on" by o.a.r.

I woke today, felt another way,
everything was gonna be fine.
My head rose up then my legs came too,
quarter past nine was the time.
I used to lose floating memories, found myself
wishing I'd remember old times.
But I woke today,
felt another way,
felt free in the sky to fly.

I stepped out the door, didn't know what for,
I saw my lady walking along.
I could have cried out what I wanted to say,
but I am sick of all this terrible charm.
I used to be into apologies, a regular to shame I
was shy.
But I woke today,
felt another way,
felt free in the sky to fly.

Well I'm through the gate, got to my house about
a quarter to eight.
And I made a drink, got about an hour to relax and
just think.
I'm just bored, nothing's ever gonna be the same
anymore.
And with my drink in hand I got up to stand and I
was off to a regular day.

The morning dragged on, I was walking along,
missing pieces fell to the ground.
Apparently, I could not see,
but I saw everything going down.
So I packed my bags and I was on my way,
I feel a little different in a different way.
But like I said when I got out of bed, I was off to a
regular day.

I could not hide, I wore my pride,
it felt good to be on the run.
The air quality was something new to me and I got
along fine with the sun.
And when I rest my heard and I lay down to bed,
I put the pieces down with the blame.
And if all goes well, at the morning bell,
I'll wake feeling free just the same.

Well I'm through the gate, got to my house about
a quarter to eight.
And I made a drink, got about an hour to relax and
just think.
I'm just bored, nothing's ever gonna be the same
anymore.
And with my drink in hand I got up to stand and I
was off to a regular day.

I would have to say "A little Bit Longer". By Nick Jonas...  He did write it about his diabeties so it defnetally counts!! :)
