Hi everyone. I’ve been diagnosed when I was 27, and I am currently 41. I’ve been on Dexcom G6 for over 2 years and I have to admit, I do love it. I do however have issues with the sensors more often than I would like. I have noticed how getting it wet can often times create a problem even though Dexcom states their sensors are waterproof.
I wanted to get a feel for the community we’re all part of and see if there is any interest in a product that may help some or potentially all of us.
I wear my G6 on my inner thigh, and I alternated between left and right legs. I find that this is an ideal spot and it works well for me. I know lots of you out there wear the sensor in other spots like your arm or belly.
The product that I am currently experiencing with is something I came up with and I am willing to share it with you all if there is interest.
It’s basically a silicone/latex sleeve that one can stretch and pull over their thigh (in my case) covering the sensor completely. This can prevent the sensor from getting wet almost 100%.
Obviously different thighs, different sizes… Also, you don’t want it to be too tight or too loose.
My plan is to have this product available in multiple sizes and colors for you all to use.
I am in the works with a manufacturer to produce these sleeves.
I see this product as being useful while taking a shower, bath or at the pool.
If there is any interest in this product, please let me know in your replies. I’d love to hear back.
Thanks and stay healthy everyone!
Not to discourage you, and we’re only one datapoint, but my daughter’s G6 doesn’t seem to be affected by water. She swims all the time with no issues. Hopefully you’ll hear from others who would benefit, though!
I appreciate the reply. I am aware this may not be for everyone, but I’m just putting it out there.
Thanks
