I have been having the same issue with bleeding when the Dexcom G6 attaches to my skin. Once inserted a bunch of my blood floods the sensor and I starting get error messages like change sensor, no signal, etc. so I have not used the DexcomG6 with my Tslim pump since 3/13, I have been using my secondary accu-check meter to calibrate my blood sugar with my pump. I’m thinking about moving to the OmniPod less work and using a system that works makes me feel better. I’m not happy at all with the DexcomG6 too much blood and bleeding with it. In one weekend I used up 6 sensors and I’m all out.
Hi @Nadia575 . I’m sorry to hear about your issues. At the risk of asking the obvious, did you try different locations for your sensor? My lower abdomen works very well without excessive bleeding, but when I’ve tried the upper abdomen I’ve gotten a lot of blood, and certain spots on my thigh bleed more than others as well. Over time I’ve learned which areas work best - and worst.
If you used the Omnipod before and it worked better by all means go for it. If you like the Tandem pump itself but just have issues with Dexcom, you can use the pump manually - using fingersticks to get your readings and keying your own boluses. You would just need to turn off CIQ or BIQ and you would be on your own.
If you think there might be even the slightest chance of giving Dexcom another shot, call and let them know about the problems. They send replacements and can help with troubleshooting. Just something to keep in mind.
I’ve been using the G6 for almost a year and I absolutely love it! I have never inserted it in my abdomen or stomach area, only my upper thigh/leg areas. My doctor keeps telling me to try my arms but I haven’t tried that yet. My readings are extremely accurate. I stopped using my 670G pump about six months ago because the insertion sites were giving me all kinds of problems and I wanted to give my stomach and abdomen area a rest. I’m doing MDI and love the freedom of not using a pump. May never go back. The Dexcom G6 gives me all the control I need. I monitor my glucose levels constantly on my iPhone and Apple Watch and have never used the receiver. I have been diabetic for 47 years and now have the best control ever. Thank you, Dexcom.
