We rarely get 10 days out of a sensor. I think we’ve gotten replacements for the last four sensors we’ve used. It’s getting to the point that I feel like telling the tech to just send out a replacement for us every 8 days. It’s really getting ridiculous and yes it is MADDENING!
As far as readings being off, yes, we experience that as well. We find that staying hydrated helps dramatically. However, even with my son’s fluid intake causing his eyeballs to float, the readings are at times way off, trends don’t match blood sugar, etc. I sure hope the G7 is better whenever it is released. Then, its probably another year until all the problems are worked out.
I had problem with G6 sensors not lasting 10 days. I switched to installing on my arm (underneath bicep) and since then they have been lasting 9-10 days. Give it a try.
I started Tandem & G6 65 days ago. Since, I started my G6 sensors, the sensors might last 1 hour then it want me to change the sensor. AlwYs errors with these sensors, I may switch to OmniPod.
Just curious Nadia @Nadia575 , where are you receiving these messages to change your sensor after only one hour? Are you receiving this “change sensor” message on your Tandem Pump - which becomes the G6 PRINCIPAL Receiver, or on a secondary receiver such as a phone?
I’ve been using the Dexcom G6 with my Tandem t-Slim x2 for a year and a half and never got a message like this. For a period of about two hours after changing sensor, I receive information on both my pump and phone that sensor is in warm-up mode.
What reason for the report have the Dexcom and Tandem technical people given you for these “errors”?
Hi Dennis, the messages that say change sensor is on my IPhone and mobile app indicates after I inserted the DexcomG6 sensor that’s it warming up after like 15 min then it it says sensor error to change the sensor. I call up DexcomG6 they told me Apple software on my IPhone 11 software 14.4 is not companies with the DexcomG6. It’s very frustrating especially after I insert the sensor it makes my skin bleed. Just doesn’t seem to work or feel right.
@Nadia575 , I enter my senior code and start sensor directly from my tandem pump, and so.etimes notice several minutes later that my Galaxy S10 phone hasn’t yet recognized a new sensor has already started.
Hi Dennis, that’s really interesting, I will try that method only using the pump and forget about using the phone for sensor. I will let you know if it works. Thanks for the tip😎 Nadia
