My husband and I are going on a cruise in 24 days (we've been counting down since about day 100!!!) and I was wondering if anyone else out there has gone on a cruise with diabetes? I have filled out all of the paperwork and they know that I am traveling with diabetes.....does anyone have any tips and/or suggestions? Thanks for the input :D
I would love to hear people's input here too! In the back of my mind, I've always been sort of interested in going on cruise but scared about being stuck on a ship w/ a less-than-knowledgeable doctor.

We've cruised three times. No issues at all. Bring all your supplies in your carry-on (plus some extras, just in case). It was just like normal traveling; nothing special that we had to do. We had a great time on every cruise.
We are going to Florida and the Bahamas. What's really cool is that we can leave from Baltimore, MD, so we don't have to fly! I really hope the oil leak doesn't affect our cruise! We have been sooo looking forward to this! Thanks for the feedback!
Hi all! I am a Cruise Specialist. One tip I can give you is have your Cruise Agent or travel agent let the cruise line know you are diabetic. If you ask for a Sharps container for needles, they will provide one for you. Our daughter has Type 1 and was just diagnosed in October 2010. In December 2010 we took our annual cruise as a family. We let the dining room staff know about Ashleigh. Every night the head waiter brought out the recipe for the desserts so we could see what the carb count for the sugar free dessert was. We are very confident about cruising with our daughter.
It sounds like this is the exact same cruise I went on! Is it the Carnival Pride? Besides my pump breaking and having to go without it for the last couple days, I was fine =) I had extra insulin and syringes with me (although I had to get some extra syringes from the ship's pharmacy), so it all worked out and my new pump was waiting for me when I got home. It's a really great cruise! I'm sure you'll have a blast!
We've been on the Carnival Pride (live in Baltimore). We were on a Princess ship in December. The Medical Centers are always accommodating.
