Check out these highs

that's nuts...I think my Freestyle only goes up to 499 before it just says "HI"

I guess we all have to do something at least once to learn our lesson!  Good to hear that you managed to get things under control - finally!

Oh my heavens!! I would have felt horrible all day. Once my pump was out of insulin while i was at school so i called my mom to have her bring me an insulin pen. Well it was delivered to my teacher and well she didnt give it to me!! i went the whole day without insulin. My mom was so mad...lets say that teacher got into lots of trouble. She didnt really like me after that.

I am so glad you got your bs down. The only time I saw the dreaded 600+, once, just before going to the hospital and getting dx'ed type 1. LOL

Yikes!  Seeing numbers like those is always a little scary.  Glad you're back to "normal", now.  :)

That is scary. My BG is almost 400 after every meal. I just got back on insulin after a doctor (who shouldn't be an MD) took me off Insulin after confusing me with a type 2 patient.

It's hard to regulate!

Riley

Oh my i had the same problem with my first doctor. He told me my blood was so high because i was taking so much insulin...how messed up is that?!

Gina,

I used to suspend my pump and forget to un-suspend it all the time!  I would end up so high hours later.  Finally, someone (can't remember if it was my CDE or someone from a forum lol) taught me to set temp basals of 0% instead, that way my regular basal would automatically come back on after the set time for the temp basal was over.  On my pump, you can set temp basals for up to 24 hours!

Btw, that meter is cool...what kind is that?

Molly

Wow, impressive! Why do our bodies have to be so stubrorn about coming back down once we're high??

Well, at least you've successfully made it back to "normal" (:

Molly,

The weirdest part of this all is that I usually put it on a temp basal but because I was low I wasn't thinking or something... I feel like such an idiot that I did it but, trust me it won't happen again! LOL

The meter is a USB Bayer Meter. I love it!

What kind of pump do you use?

Minimed Paradigm 722 and CGM.  :)

My Animas "yells" at me every 15 minutes when I have it on Suspend. It gets annoying sometimes, but it's also helpful when I reconnect and forget to Resume.

I've had crazy numbers lately too.  I've been following my normal routine, been giving regular amounts of insulin, and I haven't been consistently below 250 for the past 36 hours.

I just started using a new type of eyedrops... clear eye redness relief, active ingredient Naphazoline hydrochloride.  I looked at the contraindications, and I found... do not use in diabetics, especially those with a past history of diabetic ketoacidosis.  Maybe that's the problem???

Anyway, I've stopped using the eyedrops.  Hopefully I'll be able to stabilize this quickly.  I can't stand being this high for this long.  MAKES ME ANGRY!

Wow, i guess that puts into perspective how scewed my thoughts about my sugars are. :/ mine run that way all the time and I think nothing of it. I know it's bad but.... eh. -shrugs- i need to talk to more diabetics. lol.

Ive been diabetic since 2005 and am just getting on a pump, heading to an Omnipod I think, but i have seen numbers like that with MDI's, forget to take a bolus and its right there.

talk about feeling crappy, when i was first diagnosed, my blood registered just a hair over 1200, my doctor couldnt figure out how i was conscious.  never been back up that high since though, and im hoping that the pump can get me in a good range.

Its nice to hear that its still something i have to work at, and i cant wait to get the pump finetuned to where i need it.
