Bad A1C

okay so I just went to my endricrinologist and found out that my A1C was 11.4!! It has never been that bad before and while I was expecting it to be high I did not think it would be anywhere near that bad... my mom is super pissed and trying to figure out "why I want to kill myself" she grounded me for three months plus she took my liscence away... I feel like she is over reacting and I am just soooo frustrated right now!!! GAHH... diabetes sucks... I am so tired of having to take care of it and keep up after it... My parents try to tell me that they understand what I am going through but they dont!!!! okay I think that is it... I just needed to vent a little bit...

WHY DONT YOU TAKE UR SHOTS AND EAT MORE VEGGIES ...CAUSE IF YOU DNT THAN YOU MIGH TGO TO THE HOSPITAL...EVEN DO SOME SPORTS ... TAHTS WAT I DO AND MY A1C IS LOWERING FROM 9.0 TO IDK WAT NOW ...THATS BECAUSE I AM TAKING ALL MY SHOTS NOW

Your average mean daily plasma blood sugar is around 320. That is up there, but you have time to turn it around and you can.  I'm sorry your mom grounded you, but she probably wants to try and see what is going on. She isn't over reacting, it seems like she really cares. I had a diabetic fried with A1Cs like you growing up, and he had a stroke at 19. I've also had acquaintances die at 22 (I'm pretty sure his A1c was worse then yours). You are right that your parents don't understand, but the consequences of high A1Cs are real, your parents understand that much.

1 question is have you raised your basal rate/long acting insulin dose? Do you have a meal plan or are you counting carbs to decide how much insulin you need for food? Talk with your mom or even call up your doctor yourself and ask if that would help along with up-ing the exercise.

You may not have enough insulin, you may not be taking your shots, or there may even be something else.

Also, ask about diabetes camp for this summer. It is a lot more fun then going to more diabetes classes and it could also help lower your sugars.

I know how tiering it is taking care of diabetes, with that we all know what you are going through here. However, the more you take care of your diabetes... the less you have to take care of it. It is the strangest paradox in the world, but there is truth in it

my a1c was at 11 but hopfully it will be beter next time i go.

my first a1c was 6.1 but i was having alot of lows. i got my 2nd one done a week or 2 ago and it was 7.2 but i was having alot of highs. now my blood sugars have been reallyyy good. only one low in the last while. hopefuly yours can turn that way.
