We ran an interesting story on Diabetes News Hound today about recent research regarding beta and alpha cells in the pancreas. Essentially, researchers say that when they destroyed beta cells in mice, the animals' alpha cells turned into insulin-producing beta cells without any genetic alteration or drugs. Now, this doesn't address the autoimmune aspect of the disease and is not guaranteed to work in humans, but it is really interesting. The article is below. Thoughts?
