I was diagnosed with Type 1 two weeks before I turned 5. When I was around 13-14, my parents really wanted me to get the pump and I was insistent that I did not want it. I finally decided that I would get the pump and where it for a month and prove to my parents that it was not a good fit for me. Honestly, after a month there will still things that I hated about the pump (ok there are still things that I do not appreciate) but for me the independence the pump gave me outweighed the bad. It honestly just takes time. It is a huge adjustment and is not easy. Now (roughly 11 year later) I am so glad that my parents pushed me into getting the pump and I hope that it works for you daughter.
@tuckerendlich there is some numbing cream they can order for you, If use the numbing cream u have to wait about 30- 60 minutes for it to work and she won’t feel a thing but i use the normal ports to put my insulin in and im afraid of shots but after i got the numbing cream i loved it
