Born in 1950, diagnosed T1D late Sept. 1957. Did not have my first insulin shot until the week before thanksgiving 1957 when I entered the new Holcolm Diabetic Clinic At Good Samaritan Hosp in Portland, Or. Spent two weeks there getting training and learning about Diabetes and it’s management. I must have learned something right because I am going on with 63 years of Diabetes with good eyes, kidneys and still have 4 extremities even though I have neuropathy in my legs and hands, My major problem at this age is Coronary Arterial Disease. which is more hereditary than Diabetic related .
