Freshly diagnosed (Feb, 16, 2021) as T1D at rather an unusual age of 44. Diagnose came after an emergency room DKA. Cortisol level was off, kidneys hurt, severe dehydration and extreme thirst. Was completely oblivious about everything diabetes… I told at the hospital that my antibodies responded to chronic stress*. No family history except me! quite healthy. Before the diagnosis I ate very low carb diet and exercised daily so it was shocking knowing that stress could lead to this.
