I’m 64 years old & have had Type I Diabetes for 32 years. I got the flu and three weeks later had virtually no beta cells left in my pancreas. I also had simultaneous onset of thyroid disease. Four years later, I had the left thyroid removed, twenty years later the right side was removed along with 8 cancerous nodules. Today I’m cancer free but alas, still have Type I Diabetes! I also have epilepsy. A veritable Trifecta!
At any rate, on a daily basis, I’m basically healthy, due to a FABULOUS endocrinologist in South San Francisco. But she just closed her office and I just moved to Texas, so life is full of changes!
I have used an Omnipod, which I really liked but stopped using because of scar tissue which built up in my arms. I’ve taken many types of Insulin over the years, and am currently injecting Toujeo & Apidra insulin and continue to inject Symlin (pramlintide acetate), as well. This regimen seems to work for me.
