I am a 1960 model. I was diagnosed with type one diabetes in 1969. Five years later my paternal uncle was diagnosed as well.
I grew up on a small Michigan, USA, produce farm that my mother ran. My father had a small factory job that supplied us health insurance. My parents had 13 successful pregnacies. Prolific as hiring your own kids for farm labor did not cost any extra governmental taxes or fees.
Today I am a disabled widow who gardens and does embroidery in her hometown.
I recently got a Dexcom 6 Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM). Insulin sensitive I use Levemir long acting insulin, morning & night, with Novolog for meal boluses. A pump was used for nearly ten years, but injection site real estate became a problem. It is hoped the ten day sites with the CGM do not become an issue.
