When were you diagnosed?

i was diagnosed December 24, 1988 wow has it really been 20 years? man im getting my math wrong here.

I was diagnosed April 21st, 2008. Three weeks before my 18th birthday.

When I was in 7th grade, and I was just back from a trip to Florida. I looked good in that bikini... T_T.

It was like, 6:45 in the morning, right before school.

May 10, 2005. I asked my mom if I could change out of my school uniform before I had to go.

Fun 7th grade. I left the school that year. People thought I had the other kind of diabetes, because I was a little chuncky. They sucked.

I was diagnosed with Type 1 around Dec. 10, 1942, when I was 10 years old. Actually I first became ill on Dec. 7, 1942, exactly one year after the attack on Pearl Harbor, so I usually use that date. This was just one month after my 10th birthday.

I was diagnosed with Type 1 on October 25, 2001 at the age of 22, I had just gotten married 2 months before and my husband the jerk couldnt "take it".  We didnt stay together long after that.   But it all happens for a reason thats what i belive.

I was diagnosed on October 2nd, 2007, when I was 16. I was in the hospital for about a week. My sugars were astronomically bad!

Wow Amanda- he sounds like a piece of work! I am positive you're right, you are no doubt much better off without him!

LOL yeah my husband now is great and understands diabetes and even helps put the sensors in place for me when i have to wear them on my back because of our pregnacy.  lol   I think my ex was just to into himself and didnt like all the extra attention I was getting. lol  Its good to have helpful positive people in your life when you have to deal with diabetes like we do on a daily basis.

I was diagnosed as a Type 1 on February the Eleventh, 2003, when I was 11.

Tom - 1942 THATS AMAZING!! I bet they would of improved allot of treatments and things since then!!

I was diagnosed May 1990 at age 2 :) Couldnt imagine life without diabetes, would be very different I suppose!

I was diagnosed on December 16, 1991.  I was three years old.

I was diagnosed july of 1997 a month before I turned 15.

September 4, 2007

I was Diagnosed in May of 1990.....literally diagnosed the last day of school before summer vacation. Got out of school for the summer at 3pm.....being admitted to the Hospital by 7pm. My mom is actually the one that figured it out before I ended up in DKA. However my BS was 546....and I was barely spilling any ketones. I guess I was lucky if you look at it that way.

Had it for 18 years now....thats a really long time, but not as long as TOM!!

Amanda....good riddance on that guys. I dated a guy like that too. He didn't realize I had diabetes until we were at the restaurant....and he LITERALLY LEFT ME THERE. Got up said, " I can't handle dating a sick person, this isn't going to work." And walked out of the restaurant and left me there.  Three years later he was diagnosed with leaukemia, he contacted me via a mutual friend after that and wanted to give it another go.....I was like ummmmm.no thanks jerk!

I was diagnosed in, what I think is, a strange way. I went in with Diabetic symptoms when I was three, diagnosed, and then UNDIAGNOSED. They said instead I had what they were calling a strange "allergy" to sugar. Truthfully, they just didn't know what the heck to call me. This went on for two years until my baby sister could pull my hair out without me flinching and I was officially diagnosed November 6th, 1991.

I think I already answered this post, but had to respond again- I was diagnosed, 22 years ago, today!

Happy anniversary to me!  It drives my parents crazy that I "celebrate" it, they'd rather forget, but at this point, I want to acknowledge the accomplishment!  22 years, 2/3 of my life...

08/28/02. I was 13.

i was diagnosed in february 1997 at age 4 1/2. my mom didn't want to accept that i might have diabetes so right before we went to the hospital she took me out for a hot fudge sundae. badd idea right? hahahaha

lara, your post was great :)  I was diagnosed when I was three and my mom tells me that she took me to McDonalds, ordered pancakes and poured tons of syrup over them before going to the doctor.  I sure do hope that I enjoyed those pancakes... and you, your hot fudge sundae!!!!

hahaha thanks but the funnies part was that it was my moms idea to even have me tested. and when they were like you need to take her to the hospital she flipped and didn't want to accept it.

hahah thanks its always good have have a laugh about your diabetes stories, isn't it?
