Nuts help me since it has fat and protein and acts like glue on blood sugars. I also eat a carb. Don't know if that will work for you but the fat idea was given to me by a Dietician that specializes in Diabetes. It helped me get rid of exercise lows and having to eat too many carbs.
Pam you are so right, I was just talking with my doctor yesterday about this. I have a hard time because with my softball tournaments it is very unpredictable how many games we will play and how active they will each be. My doc said eating fat/protein really helps to keep blood sugar up for longer periods of time. He said it also depends on the type of excercise you are doing for example aerobic versus anaerobic can affect if your blood sugar level drops during or right after excercise or 4 or 5 hours later. Everyone remember too that insulin is more receptive in the evening and night then in the morning when your body is releasing the hormone cortisol so if you have been working out all day use less insulin in the evening.
Rebecca thanks for enlightening me that insulin is more receptive in evening and I thought I was unique that I drop my pod down to half of what it is in the day between 3 a.m. and 8 a.m . Now I understand why. Thanks for the info.
