Parents objecting to relationship

@wadawabbit, @szewee : Dorie–Thanks for clarifying that a CGM and an insulin pump are separate devices. For newcomers it can be confusing! And insurance premiums can vary wildly, especially here in the States. Szewee, it sounds like you are well on the way to navigating a complex and often confusing health situation…don’t worry–it will all make sense soon and I do hope your relationship and future remains positive and rewarding!

@szewee Hello! I am new here & I just wanted to add a short bit of info that might give the two of you some more hope - I was diagnosed at 5 years old with T1D, which they then called “juvenile diabetes”. I am now 45 years old & have 3 boys, ages 17, 14 & 10. My youngest was also diagnosed with T1D almost 3 years ago as well (that little detail is something you might not want to share with your mother quite yet :yum:), but we are all otherwise healthy & definitely have our everyday struggles with mood swings, lows & highs, etc, but it’s just become a part of life. My kids weren’t big babies, they weren’t premature, they were born healthy, & other than a few extra precautions that were taken, like my seeing a doctor that specialized in high risk pregnancies each time, as well as the hospital staff checking their blood sugars often while we were in the hospital for a few days, my experiences have been scary but well worth bringing my boys into this crazy world! I wouldn’t have it any other way. I wish you the BEST! And WOW! Your girlfriend’s a1c averaging 6.1 are AMAZING. GOOD FOR HER & if she keeps that up, your mother doesn’t have much of a leg to stand on…no offense please! I’m happy that you seem to truly be happy & what great communication you have between the two of you. I hope your mom decides to give her a chance. She could learn something one of the most important things in life from just observing the two of you!
