You will find that if you you lay it beside you, you subconciously toss it back and forth all night. (i'm a roller) Even my husband throws it back on my side when it wanders away lol. Just be careful not to let it fall off the edge of the bed-i've pulled a few sets out that way! :)
I'm glad you are liking the pump, Ive had my MM Paradigm for 6 yrs and I love it :) I've had the CGM for about 3wks and its amazing what you don't see by just checking your sugar 4 times a day! Good Luck!
That made me laugh hard because I know I roll around and I can just picture my pump rolling off the bed and ripping out the site ha ha ha. ouch!
Did you gain noticable weight on the pump Lisa? I am finding that when my BS is high I tend to try to get it in the normal range but taking the recomended bolus but then I think hmmmm more insulin means more weight...
Yes I gained weight! About 10-15lbs, I remember crying because my doctor told me that most people actually lose weight because they start to watch their carbs more if they have to enter it into the pump. I was devastated, I was 20 at the time and body image was everything to me and actually considered getting off just because of the weight gain (I actually ended up going back to injections a few yrs later because in my "bar" days I felt too self conscious with my pump on) BUT now that I have woke up and realized it doesnt matter anymore as long as I'm healthy!
I ended up losing most of the weight after a few months once things got more regular for me. The doctor said I probably gained the weight because I was in such bad control before I went on the pump. If you recall, one of the first symptoms of high blood sugar is weight loss. So I was actually less than I should have been because of my awful control. So it all worked out in the end!
So dont sweat it! If you gain a few, you probably needed it!
I agree with Nicole, your gonna gain "healthy" weight back, especially if your sugars were out of control or "high" before going on the pump, and then from there you monitor what you eat...the good thing is you only bolus for what you eat- so from then on out its portion control...I have been on the pump for 6 years...I went through my ups and downs with it, but I have better control then I did in high school, and its a step in the right direction for getting better sugars for future pregnancy
I put my pump in my shorts pockets at night...I used to have the longer tubing and would wake up choking myself haha...my husband too, will throw it back on to me if it gets loose...lately our saint bernard has spent some nights in our bed and I ll occasionally find it under him nice and warm haha, and its usually when I am scrambling to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night....haha
I am 10 weeks pregnant and just had an A1C of 6.4. Although my endo was content with the reading (I was a 7.7 prior to pregnancy) she wants me to go under a 6.0. I have frequent low blood sugar (in the 30s) and I'm exhausted! Is your endo happy with a 6.4?
