i ask them if im at a friends or if im eating out my mom allways ask for the nutrition information & help me out add it all up & where we go to order my mom will split it up for me & most of the time i get full.
Nothing new I can add except we make sure if there is no calorie we order something that is a bit easier to figure out. No pasta dishes with names we don't recognize etc. If its a grill type place I can usually figure out most of the burgers, sandwiches etc. ITs the things like wraps, appetizers etc that are hard to guestimate so they are avoided most times.

If I'm out at a restaraunt, I pull out my CALORIE KING booklet that I've had for about 2 years. Gives a lot of nutitional information for most everything under the sun. At a friend's house, they know I'm diabetic so I just ask to see the box or label and add up my carbs there. Sometimes I'll guess first and I'm right on the money.
me i allways got to ask for the box or the label & i try to add up the carbs im not good at math so i allways got to call my mom & ask for her to help me add up the carbs.
its your business if you don't want to tell anybody, but you shouldn't be ashamed or embarrassed; its not your fault. its a disease that you have. how is it degrading to explain that you have a disease?
I have the Calorie King book. it is insanely magical. it has nutrition info on practically everything, AND its small. no more collecting leaflets from restaurants and shoving them into your bag!
