Diabetic Symphonies

My name is Lorena Lopez, I’m a senior at the Carnegie Mellon University, School of Art and a T1D for 4 years. My senior thesis project is to create an experience in which someone can feel and see not only the physical, but also psychological implications of living with diabetes I, and my way to advocate for a diabetes cure.
My project involves to create music from blood sugar trends together with a photography work and putting on a big performance at the end of the school year. I’m working with a some Type 1 diabetics (who use both CGMs & Pumps) who want to photograph their day for about a 12 hour period and then let me use their CGM data to make music. What I’m essentially doing is creating two portraits of the same person, one visually and one musically. I’m using majority Dexcom as CGM, because I can export the data to create the music.
I’m trying to get some support from the T1D community, because i need a bigger pool of T1Ds using CGM willing to help me. I will provide a camera and rolls to document her/his day, and show you how to export the CGM data.
If you’d like to read a bit more on it and see some of the work on process check the website
