Best first time pump?

Michelle, my pump came with an insertion device that injects the infusion needle before you have a chance to feel it or react to it.  Then after ii is in, you simply pull the needle out leaving the canula in.  I am using the Medtronic pump.  But I believe they all have similar devices to get the pump connected to the body.  The companies are all interested in making the daily chores that diabetes brings just a bit easier and, more accurate.  MDI worked for me but infusion pump therapy for me was far superior.  My latest A1c was 6.4 and I think that is the highest one I have had since I began the pump.  I just got on the Continuous Glucose Monitor with my pump and believe that that tool is going to bring myself as close to "normal" blood sugars as I have had in the nearly 38 years of dealing with diabetes.  Back to your question, I think insertion of the pump canula is less painful than MDI's.  It really happens so fast I don't even feel it, I only have to do it once every three days and those insertion needles are so sharp!  Good luck to both of you.  I think looking back you will be pleased!

Definately pumping is more convient and easier.  I've had my Animas Ping for about 18 months.  This is my first pump and it has been easy to use.  I like the LCD like screen, size and weight of the ping.  It honestly doesn't appear to be a medical device.  I'm also thankful that it is water proof, it makes pool parties, vacations and the like easier for me.  I think you will really appreciate only having to "poke" yourself every other day compared to what you are doing now.  The animas support to get started was great, I was up and running by myself after about 2 weeks.

Good luck, I'll keep reading to see what the minimed suporters have to say.
