24 entered severe DKA, studying for Bar exam

Hi my name is Kim,

I have been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes for a little bit over a month now. I found out during my finals and a week before my law school graduation after entering into severe DKA . MY A1C was 16% and I’d been displaying symptoms of diabetes for over a year. I didn’t think I could get Type 1 at my age and with no family history, which is why it progressed as far as it did. I’ve lost some of my hair and have experienced a variety of new and strange symptoms. If there is anyone out there who is a lawyer with Type 1 diabetes I would really appreciate some advice. It feels like I’ve been “struck by lighting” as one my doctor’s put it. I’ve never known anyone with Type 1 before.

T1D attorney here. Feel free to send me a message with any questions.

I’m so sorry you had to deal with this life-altering change at such a stressful time. I never experienced hair loss, but I have had skin issues and dietary problems. Autoimmune diseases are bewildering. It builds character and resilience.
